My old roomie and I watched "Night at the Museum" starring Ben Stiller, Robin Williams, Owen Wilson and the legendary Dick Van Dyke of "Mary Poppins" and "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang" fame. Based on a children's book by the same name, it is a must watch if you are ready to accept the world of fantasy as part of a movie watcher's diet. I don't want to narrate the plot here as it would be a spoiler but would like to share some thoughts and snippets
-The setting is in NYC at the Museum of Natural History.
- Intermittently in the movie I had some sort of deja vu with some of the scenes. Scenes from the Jurassic Park, Van Helsing (the charriot chase) and Wild Wild West (attire of Owen Wilson) kept flashing. Whether or not it was done intentionally(on semisemisemi la scary movie lines) is pure speculation.
-"At the Museum, history comes alive" was not a banal point to be noted. Throughout my school days i hated history...But i have transformed now. I love visiting museums as I feel a new sense of vitality in me.
-As Rebecca Hutman played by Carla Gugino explains the students
taking the museum tour,"Learning History is important because it helps you live better in the future", it is hightime all you history haters lent your ears to Rebecca.
I give 3/5
